UPDATE: My account is back up at Twitter. I have no idea what happened. It was gone for a week and I was notified that it was suspended for the reasons below. I never got a personal response but its back up.Sitting here absolutely clueless.

P.s.

So the following below is old news. I will delete it but with all this weirdness I think I better wait to see if it happens again. lol

Last night I got an email saying that someone was following me on Twitter. I clicked on the link to check them out. My page loaded with tons of type explaining that my account was suspended. Floored, I thought, how did that happen? I was active. The account didn’t just sit there. I had not had any confrontations and no one had sent me any hate messages, so what gives?

After emailing them and asking if this had been some mistake, I got an automatic email back.  In this email there were possible reasons why Twitter kicked me. One of the reasons was that my Followers were greater than those who I chose to Follow. That was possible because suddenly over the last few weeks, I was being nailed with followers. I never thought that this would be an issue though lol.  Another possible reason was someone had complained of spam. Well I haven’t spammed anyone, I thought. I was still figuring out how to work the place and I had not sent anyone any private messages and so on. Another reason was repeat posts. Well that did happen one day but it was a glitch of Twitter’s not mine. It kept saying my update could not be posted and it did look like it wasn’t. By the next day though it was, three times. Another possible reason was that my updates were blog posts and that they were more than actual personal update messages. Yeah, I had blog posts but I also had tons of personal messages as well. The blog posts were from a plug in that is used with Windows Live Writer. When I post to my blog, it sends an update to my account at Twitter. How could that be bad I thought since Its actual software?

Well for whatever of those reasons I have been kicked, or twicked off twitter. SO for anyone who was in contact with me from over there, I didn’t just cut and run and for all the writers who I met from there, be warned. I do think if the blog posts are not allowed (short links) then they really need to contact Microsoft and have the plug in removed.

  1. Hi, I’m on the Windows Live Writer team and wrote the Twitter plugin. We actually ran the plugin by the Twitter folks months ago and they were (more than) cool with it. I wouldn’t mind seeing that e-mail (or the part about blog post updates not being allowed) if you feel like forwarding it to me. Thx

  2. I don’t have it Joe. I deleted it. But I can get another one. I’ll just email them again asking why my account was suspended. I am sure they will send me the same thing. It was an automatic reply type deal. No one has ever contacted me personally saying what the exact reason is or if this was some mistake. They just sent me an email listing all the reasons of why it could be possible. It really unnerved me because I was using the heck out of twitter and that was ONLY when I found out that Windows Live Writer had the plug in. Before that, I was sort of lost in Twitter. Can you create one for JAIKU? So far no one has suspended me from there lol.
