The good news about Cartomancy is that you probably already have a deck of cards. Remember, you are using cards which have 52 count, consisting of Kings, Queens, Jacks, Ace’s, Hearts ,etc. However, you may wish to get a deck that is used only for predicting , not allowing others to use it for poker or other card games. Some people are hell bent on this but in the end it depends on you.

If you do go out to buy new cards, sometimes you can find ones strictly for Cartomancy. (Personally, though, I choose standard playing cards as the ones for Cartomancy that Tarot sites sell consist of more cards than 52 AND lean more towards tarot than Cartomancy in my opinion.) The ones made and labeled Cartomancy are rare as well and hard to find. For these lessons, I will be teaching Cartomancy with the regular playing cards you can buy in stores.

So, just like tarot you can choose a deck custom for you. There are Egyptian playing cards, Mystical ones, and all sorts. Go with what you like. if you are fine with a red deck of bicycle cards, then have at it.

I often tell people to choose a deck that they are interested in. If you hate the color pink, then choose a deck that doesn’t have pink in it. If you adore puppies, then go grab a deck with pics of puppies on it.
