Venus was the Roman Goddess of Love. She was not only considered to be the Mother of Rome itself, but was also the patron of women, Springtime, of all things beautiful like gardens, the vines (which brought forth wine) and so forth.

On this day in ancient history, Rome had a great festival all for Venus. At least this was the great eve of it, anyway. In order to pay homage to her, they would spend the day making merry, reciting poetry, making love, singing songs, and part taking in all the things that they themselves thought to be wonderful.

Today we also big the Goddess Kerea good-bye. Stay tuned for the new Goddess month beginning tomorrow.
